Mike Calviou

Mike Calviou is Senior Vice President, Strategy & Regulation, for National Grid USA (“National Grid”). Mike is responsible for developing the business, regulatory, and customer strategy for National Grid’s US business and ensuring we have energy policy positions consistent with that strategy. He leads on ensuring we have long-term plans to deliver clean energy to our customers at an affordable price and the reliability our customers expect. He is also responsible for National Grid’s regulatory and pricing functions across all of National Grid’s U.S. jurisdictions and operating companies.

Mike has spent over 30 years working for National Grid plc in various capacities in the U.S. and U.K., including senior leadership positions in Customer Service, Asset Management/Engineering, and Strategy. Prior to his current role, he previously led all the customer and commercial activities and the strategic design for Great Britain’s (GB) electricity and gas transmission networks. This included managing the regulatory and contractual framework that governed connections to the electricity and gas transmission systems, responsibility for all major policy decisions, and strategy development concerning the market design and industry frameworks in the U.K. and Europe. He also chaired the Executive Committee for National Grid’s U.K. System Operator function (covering both electricity and gas) for Great Britain.

Mike has a degree in Theoretical Physics from Cambridge University and resides in Natick, Massachusetts, with his son.
